The Bill was not to apply to Mutual Insurance Companies, but it those Coinpatiisa insured, any portion not shareholders that Company would come within the provision of clause 16, exemitting Mutual Insurance Companies, provoked strong opposition. Sir Julius Yogel said the Committee could hardly object to the clause, as it w*B introduced, on strong recommendation of a division. After further discussion the clause was struck out by 29 to 29. Sir Julius Yogel considered influence had been brought to bear to exciso the clause. Hon. members would see that his position; was au awkward one, this was a Government measure, but to his surprise he found his colleagues did not approve of jt., ; . The Bill was then reported. ; MrO'Callaghan then gave notic* that he would move for the recommittal. The House rose at 1 30. a.m.
