At half ; pasltwp the. funeral procession moved' off from the lodge-rdpm. ; The order of the ; procession was as foliows-T-Mem.bers of the following Masonic Lodges— De Burgh Adams, • Ngamotu, Egmont, Waitara^ Hawei^a, and St. Andrew's Kil winning, Wahganiiu These numbered over one hundred. Then came the hearse, followed by fully 500 school children, who m turn were followed by the members of the PrJß.sby terian Church and the general public. The street from the lodge-room to tHa cemetary was lined with crowds' of people, . On arriving at ; ; the -ceremjetry the Masons lined the avenue of trees which led^to the grave, and the school children were next marched up close to : ■ ' tlie'grave by P.M. Bro. Ellis, who acted j throughout as Marshall, and performed the duties admirably. The Presby terian ; ' burial. service was impressively read by the : Rev. Mr Dawson, of New Plymouth, who also delivered an excellent address. The Masonic ritual was next read byP.M.- Bro:. .Brooking, of the De Burgh? Adams Lodge (of which the deceased was" Chaplain),, and .he. also gave an eloquent address admirably suited to the occasion. After the brethern had walked around the grave and deposited their sprigs of acacia, the -school children essayed a hymn, but almost broke down, many of them weeping violently. All around! there >vere signs of grief plainly appar- ; ent, the' deceased having made himself l a general favourite.
