Wanganui News.
(by telegraph.) (from our own correspondent.) Wanganui, Monday. :. Edward Churton, a very old' resident of Wanganui, died yesterday, at the age of 73. He was secretary of the Harbor Board, arid manager of the Building Society. The fatal malady was gout of the heart. It is rumoured here that Sir William Fox will return to the colony very shortly and that there will be ructions over tbe sale of Westoe. A prospective divorce case is causing some comment m social circles here,the parties heing well-known. Adultery, with a barmaid is the alleged grounds of ■= proceedings. Dullness of trade is generally complained of, though many affirm that a sign of improvement m business affairs are apparent. It is rumoured that Mr John Notiuan, will .probably succeed Mr Churton, as secretary of the Harbor Board, and Arthur Filmer as manager of the Building Society. A fatal case of childbirth occurred at Wangeahn yesterday morning. A medical man was sent for from here, but he arrived too late to-be of any servk*.
