Wellington Stock Prices.
Messrs J. H. Wallace & Coi held their first fortnightly sale of stock on Tuesday at their yards, Johnsonville. The sale was a great success, the attendance of buyers being large. Every line of fat stock offered" was eagerly competed for, and the result of the sale may be deemed eminently satisfactory to all parties concerned. We append the firm's report of the sale :— Fat cattle — Thirty head ; of medium weights from the Wairarapa were yarded and sold at from; £7 to £7 2s Gdfor bullocks; a pen of Heifers-brought £5 78 6d per head*; we quote beef , prime quality, 20s per lOOlbs ; ordinary 17s-6d per lOOlbs. Fat sheep— We yarded 161 mixed ewes , and wethers (medium weights, which, sold at 103 6d to 12s ; we quote mutton at 2d per lb. Store cattle — We sold 30 head dry sows at from £3 10s to £4 12s 6d ; milkers, £4 10s to £5 17s 6d. On account of the inclemency of the weather, the young . cattle were not 3 f arded, but. Will be offered at our next fortnightly . sale. Horses^— Hacks, £4 10s to £9. Pigs— We sold a iine.ofa sow and nine suckers at £4 12s 6d. We have i several buyers for good store cattle and good-mouthed store sheep. Our next sale will he held on Thursday, 30th July instant.
