Exciting Scene.
An exciting scene occurred at Omeo Victoria, on June 11, -when ths polica proceeded to remove the body of Con Shiug, a Chinaman, who met his death through a fall of earth m a tunnel. The deceased's friends gathered m large numbers, forcibly resisted the police, and refused to allow the post mortem that had been ordered to be carried out. The police, of whom three were- present, drew their revolvers, ordering the Chinese to stand back. They, however, refused, and one, a relative of the doceased, named Ah Pow, threw himself on the corpse, and defied the police. The sergeant pushed him back with the muzzle of his pistol, when the Chinaman opened his vest and invited him to fir<». At this stage Mr Easton, J.P. arrived, and the disturbance was gradually quelled. The Chinese objected to the deceased's body being cut open, asserting that it was against their rehVious scruples, and, m this case,, quite unnecessary.
