Premier for presentation ;'.. and a letter to Sir George Grey asking his continued support. The Fiji Times expresses suprise and regret at the extremely cautious tone of the reply reoeived from New Zealand Government. It says that the Premier never manifested any interest m -the South Sea affairs ; hut they expected different feeling from Yogel, and observes that the reply contrasts singularly with the enthusiasm displayed over Samoa. Connolly's Commercial Hotel, Levuka, has been burned dewn. It was insured for 2600 m the New Zealand Office,. £250 m the National, £500 m the Union, and £500 in* the South British. An adjacent cottage, which was also destroyed, was insured for £150 . m the South British. , A horrible double murder has been committed at Uenu, two of Moore's Polynesian laborers, were found muti- • lated. Their heads were severed from, the trunk. 'Two Fijians have been arreated on suspicion.
