Meeting of Creditors.

Oh /Friday last the- Deputy -Official , Assignee held the first meetinprs of creditors'ih the estate of Poad, Brazierj and Hawkins. . /-' : ■'■■■'.':•;■■ POAD ESTATE. The debtor on oath made the following statement :— 1 commenced .business iii partnership with Brazier m August . 1881 ; I had ahput J635 worth of tools belonging to myself ; a shop was rented at Terrace End at 15s ; a' week and m 1883, Fly?er, the then landlord, seized a quari-, tity of implements :foi £25 rent ' due. The sale of these tools brought m £18. I left Paknerston for Wellington before this and there were then book debts to the extent of over „£3OO, about i'lso of which ' were good. ; ' I bought through the agency of Mb Perkins a house from Mr Hoe, the purchase money was JE280,, i>2oo of the money was procured from Messrs Beck & Campbell , on mortgage for which I had to pay 10 per cent, interest. MrTEoe also advanced me on, aVlecured imortgage. :My secured creditors are Beck & Campbell, £200; Hoe, £40. Unsecured creditors £"29 15s. Flyeer bought the goods at the sale for £18,. they were worth I believe £37- I worked for Flyger after this for, £2 10s a week.. A property r was purchased from Charles tor £200 mortgaging the same for £150 to Calender at 8 per cent. The books I never had anything to do with. Charles' house is also mortgaged to J. Baker for '■ £200.' -The secured creditors -• are as follows: — Josephine, laker, £200 ;J., $ W. Calender (Christchurchj, £150; unsecured, £187 15s 6d ; total, £53.7 15s 6d. The debtor deposed a lease of 11 acres of land at Jackeytown was secured to J. P. Armstrong for money advanced, paid £8 ss per annum for the lease. (2l years), through failing to pass my law examination I have had to seek the protection of ; the Court. If creditors had not pushed ; me I should have paid by getting assisti ance.
