The rush which took place' to the Snowy River ranges owing to the' reported discovery of gold, has proved, to be a complete failure, as anticipated, and the expectations of the prospectors have not been realised. SteVenon and Sons have purchased the business of Messrs McArthur, Brind, and Co., aoft goods importers of this city." Sir Alexander Stuart, Premier of New South .Wales, is about to visit Melbourne for the purpose of conferring'- with Ms . Service, the Victorian Premier, on the question of federal defence and other, matters of common interest.
