Palmerston- Waitapu Small Farm Association.
The following is' the copy of the memorial sent to. the Minister of Lands by twenty-five members of tha Small, Farm Association :— ■ . . :V To the Hoh.vMinistei: of Lands—Understanding that a resolutios submitting the name of a. surveyor to. carry ■qiitthe survey of the Waitapu Block for the Palnierstori- Waitapu " Small Farm 'Association will be forwarded "f or. ratification or otherwise by the Government we the undersigned, as member of. the same submit the following facts for consideration prior to a decision being arrived at. - ', 1. The meeting at which the matter was discussed was irregularly v called, a large nuinb.er of the members not having had any notice convening the same. : 2. That certain parties who were not. members of the Association were present at such . irregular meeting and voted on the question. ■ ■ ~ - i - 3. That the question put and resolution which was carried was, "That M'rWv'H E. Flyger " should be appointed as isiuch surveyor. . , .','■'.;■ ■ '■ . .4. That after the resolution was thus put and carried, the said W. H. R. Flyger, who acted as secretary at the meeting, iriserted;withqut authority the name of T. W.Downes, and we understand that 'an application has-been or is about^to he niade to appoint this latter gent|enian ;in i ' Flyger'B place, it having transpired tliat Mr Flyger is not an r authorised surveyor, which renders it necessary that he 'should procure some deputy whom the" Govern?, ment authorities would recognize. 5. That the amount of Mr Flygei-'s charge is £145 odd m excess of . the tender of a well-known and 'reliable isurveyor who tendered for thb same^ * 6. That without impugning the character or ability of Mr Downes, we object to this amount being thrown away, or that a gentleman-would be nominated by /Mr; Flyger for the purpose of putting money into his pockets against the interests of the members generally. .7.
