His Worship said he was satisfied that the Librarian's evidence wa3 true, and he had no doubt thnt accused had wilfully damaged these papors. This must he put a stop to, and as a warning to others he would impose a fine of 28s, and costs 7s, order Is to ho paid for damage done, and allow 21s as counsel's fee. In answer to the question whether he was prepared to pay, defendant said he did not know. Mrs Wallis, who was iv court, paid the fine. MrF. Gilbert, informs us that his business connection m this district has very largely increased of late, so much so that he can with difficulty overtake the demand for his professional services which increasd with each succeeding visit to tho district.
