In the Council the debate on Mr Bath--grate's motion for a committee to inquire into the granting of State ass'stance to settlers by lending them money at a low rate of interest, was resumed. — The motion was carried by 17 to 15. The Mercantile Law Amendment Bill was read a third time, and passed.
