The McAlister Case at Masterton.
(Post Correspondent.) Masterton, Tuesday. The Court was crowded yesterday afternoon to hear the charge against James Patrick M'Aiister. It transpired that several informations had been lodged on both sides, Father Tracy charging M'Aiister with threatening and abusive | language, calculated to provoke a breach of the peace, and M'Aiister charging the rev. gentleman with assault and false arrest. The Bench granted an adjournment for an hour. When the parties returned mto Court it was announced that an amicable arrangement had been come to, and all the cases were struck out. Father Tracy subsequently published an apology as follows : — Sir, — I beg to retract all statements which I have made against the character of your sister, Mrs Kedman, and declare same to be unfounded, and to express to you my regret for having taken the steps which I took on Saturday last, the 20th instant, causing you to be given into custody. (Signed) Patrick Treacy, Catholic Priest.
