INDIAN NATIVE TROOPS.
The temper m which Russian aggress aion has been received m India gives assurances that should war break out the people and princes of the Empire would be heartily on the side of Britain. Hindoos and Mohammedans alike seem to understand that nothing would be gained by an alliance, with Russia. The manner m which the princes— -especially Holkar arid Scindiah— Have put their military resources at the disposal of the Viceroy shows that they are anxious to take a prominent part against the. Czar, At the present moment it may be of interest to know that the following are. the native armies which can be put into the field :— Cashmere^ 27,000 men; NepauL 100,000 ; Hyderabad, 44,000 ; Oodeypore, 20,000 ; Gwalior, 11,000 ; Borodo, 15,000; Indore, 8,000 ; Jeypbre, 18,000 ; Jodhpore, 8,500 ; Bhurtpore, 11,500. Altogether the native armies of India comprise a force of 349,000 men.
