It was a gift which, he hoped, would be acceptable to so distinguished a soldier, who was, at th« same time, a powerful ruler, and wh© had just declared himself the friend and ally of England. The Ameer, m a flim voice replied, " With this sword I kop* to quiet any enemy of the British Government."
