From a recent number ot the Austra. Una Sportsman we notice that Capta n Barry has added yet another to his inai y and varied experiences. This time he is figuring m the pugilistic arena m conneo tion with a series of boxing tournaments at Chiarini'a Circus m Sydney. \V» read :-— " Tlie wiridup was between tv. o veterans, both 65 years of age, Captain W. Barry and 01.l Bill Sparka. Their doings m the ring creating much amusement — the former hopping about like a cat on hot bricks — though they showed that they had not yet forgotten either the science or the love of a sport picked up many long years ago, it being exactly half a century since they first faced each other with the mittens soon after their arrival m New South Wales." In another part of the same paper, the Captain issues the following challenge : — " i, Captain W. Jackson Barry, alias Nobby, 65 years of age, will run 100 yards, ride over flights of hurdles, or box under the Marquis of Queensberry's rules any man of my own age from £100 up to £500. , Man and money ready at Jack Thompson's, 91 King-street; Sydney."
