A number of advertisements local and from a distance arc unavoidably held over. Some of them will appear on Monday, and the remainder on following days, as room can be made tor them. We are pleased to hear that Messrs Welch and Co. are exceedingly well satisfied with their business prospects. They are doing a steady and daily increasing amount of trade, and the public are giving them a most encouraging support. They have a very large and excellently assorted stock, and their prices arc from 20 to 75 per cent, less than those hitherto ruling m Palmeraton. The new firm are very well pleased with their venture 'so far, and consider their starting m business m Palmerston was for ■them a very fortunate decision. To-night again (heir premises will probably be as crowded and business as brisk as was tho case last. Saturday night. Two Road Board notices appear elsewhere. Messrs Bentley Bros, altered advertisement will be found before the leader. It will be set up m better display m our next issue. Messrs llalcombe and Sherwill had an excellent sale at Fuilding on Thursday. There will be service at All Saint ■;' Chinch on Sunday at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., ami 7 p.m., aud Anglican service at Aslmrst at '6 p.m. Leonora and Tigredia have been scratched for the New Zealand Cup. The railway employes at Lyttelton charged with conspiring to defraud the Government have been committed for trial. Tlie Jane Douglas will leave Foxton for Wellington at 3 p.m to-morrow. Several new consultation advts. are held over for want of space. Amounts due by all subscribers whose papers have been stopped on account of arrears of subscriptions will be sued for next court day without respect of persons.
