Shortly after 2 o'clock this afternoon a playlaver named John Lewis, working on the ltiingiom and Fernside section of the line, fell from a trolly going at the rate of four or five miles an hour. The wheels inflicted injuries to his leg and side, the extent not being yet known. He also received a serious blow on the head. Napier, Wednesday. A girl named Auguste Peersen, who about a month ago was arrested as being of unsound mind, and discharged on the certificate of two medical men, wandered from her home at Ormondville last Friday. Search parties were out from Saturday morning to Sunday afternoon, when she was discovered by Constable Shultz and a settler named 'Hanson. She was lying crouched under a fallen tree m the bed of a shallow stream, about two miles from her home, and her legs were immersed m water. It is feared she will lose the \\m of her hands and feet. After being cared for she was brought down to Napier on Monday, and remanded to the Lunatic Asylum for medical examination. A(TCitLA.yD, Wednesday. On Sunday evening tho public hall at Matakana was burned. All the Road Board's books and documents wore lost m tho fire, the origin of which is unknown. The building was insured m the Imperial for £150. Mr Kelly's supporters have subscribed £250 for the purpose of unseating Mr Sheehan for alleged corrupt praefcices at the lato Tauranga election.
