From the New Zealand Loan And Mercantib Agency Company's monthly report on the produce markets of New Zealand, dated May 521, we extract the following : — '. GRASS SEEDS.* •' Chbistcburch.— • Ryegrasa--Fanaer8 f parcels are being bought freely by merchants for" speculative purposes. At the present time there is only a limited demand . fo/ machine-dressed, samples. Cocksfoot— Transactions m this seed, during the month have been considerable for both the coastal and intercolonial trades, but for the past week there has bfeeii a shrinkage m the ' demand, and purchases cm be made at a reduction on previous rates. Wellington.— There have been a few enqniries for good cocksfoot, and several lines have exchanged hnuds. Stocks are now light. . Napier.— Ryegrass. and Cocksfoot. — Very little business doing, our quotations are nominal. . FROZEN MEAT. There has been no improvement m values reported' m the London markets since our last. The meat per ship Can-, terbury arrived on the 14th, and was found oh examination to be m good condition, and is bringing 5d to s£d per Ib . Donedin. — Tn our last we reported the works at Bnrnside preparing a cargo for the s.s. Kaikoura, which has since departed with 5,300 carcases o( mutton and 94 quarters of beef. Tim s.s. Elerslie has also left, taking 9,500 carcases of mutton from this port. The next on the berth will be the s.s. Toneariro, for which the works are now getting ready a cargo. "' Christohurch.— The Belfast Freezing Works have been employed during the month preparing cargoes for the ship Invercargill and s.s. Kaikoura, which have sailed from Lyttelton with 9,239 carcases mutton on board the former, and 5,135 carcases mutton and 104 quart! ters beef m the latter. After a few days for cleaning up, operations, are now m full progress on the shipment for the s.s. lonic to sail next month. ' '' ' ' '' Timard.— Our local refrigerating works are being pushed on as fast as possible. A shipment of 6,000 is now m course of preparation' for the Tongariro. ; Napier. — The Mat aura sailed on the Bth inst., taking 5,737 carcases and 477 haunches mutton.
