The force of the water, however, was such that the poor little fellow was taken right . over the side ; and though his father held' him at. long as possible, he had eventually to let him go. The storm was raging with such violence that it was impossible to lower a boat to try and save him,; ,h§d such a course been followed, other lives would most likely have been sacrificed, and tba poor boy had to be loft io big fate.
