Waste Lands Board.
The usual forth ttfhtly meet iug of the Wellington Waste Lamls Board was held on .TliurHtUy. Present — Messrs J. W. A. Marchrtnt, (Comniissioiaer of Crown Lauds, m the* cliair),} W. A. Fitzherbert, G Bcetham, M. H X., W. W, McCanlle, T. Mamm, and H. Bunny. The ChiiiriiiKii reported that no laud had been sold nince last meeting. Mr J. 11. Corbett's applicat|on for rebate of interest was again considered, and, aftei aome diseussiori, it waß agreed to adjourn the question for a fortuight. The Cixmnissionersaia ho should oppose all applications of tho kind, »s a rely large question was involved. Mr Me Cardie, who had supported ,the application last meeting, said that upon inquiry he found Mr Corbett was m the same position as a number of other . settlers who had taken up land at the same time, and before the Land Amendment Act, j 1882, had been passed* granting relief to deferred-payment settlers. He was not: therefore prepared to. support the appli* cation. . \ ...... ; ' , . A prospecting license, was granted to Mr J. 1 Colter for prospecting: Crown, lands for gold north and south of the Manawatn Gorge. . : The other business transacted i waa of no local or special interest. >
