Alleged Dummyism.

At the Land Board meeting to-dayj • Mr McKenzie moved, that ao inquiry be held as to whether the requirements of the Land Acts, m then* true intent and' spirit, 1 are being evaded m- the case of the, Berimore Run. He stated that previous to the purchase of the lease by Mr Beg"s as attorney f or Mr Docherty, it was held by Messrs R. „ Cauapbell anil> Co., for whom Mr Begg was also agent As Mosßra Campbell and Co. were debarred from purchasing under the "McKenzie clause," it was bought by Mr Begg as attorney for Mr Doeherty, but as tho run was apparently being worked for Messre Campbell and Co., and the sheep running are branded with their brand, the inference was that Mr Doeherty was their dummy. As the run formed part of the University endowment, the matter was deferred for a week to consult the Board's solicitor. .
