SECOND DAY.

Dunedin, Monday. The second day of th« D. J.C. Birthday Meeting was successful. The weather was magnificent, and the attendance good. Handicap Hurdles. — Little John 1; Hector 2, Foreman 3. Birthday Handicap. — Captain Webster 1, Lady Emma 2, Tim Whiffler 3. Won by three lengths. It was dark before the Consolation Race could be got off and as the judge was unable to place them, the race will be run to-morrow. Seven started. The total put through the machine for the two days was £9972. New Plymouth, Saturday. At the annual meeting of the Taranaki Jockey Club last night, it was decided to have only one meeting a year, m Autumn, as the Spring Meetings haye resulted m a loss.
