Russell discharging gun m a public place without reasonrble cause. Charge against Russell withdrawn. Constable informed the bench that a son of Mr E. J. Armstrong's was.proceeding home on Monday evening, and wheu opposite Mr Warburton's house a man fired a gun off and he believed it was for him. The constable stated that of course this suspicion was groundless, the man was m a drunken state, and did not know what he was doing. He also subsequently firod the gun of m a hotel. Fined 20s and costs 7s. CIVIL CASES. D. Pringle v. Native.— Claim, £2 15s. Judgment for plaintiff and costs*, Same v. E. E. McDenmott. — Claim, £1 ss. Judgment for plaintiff and costs. J. McDowell v. Win. Moore. — Claim, £4 0s 6d. Judgment summons. No appearance of defendant. Order to pay m instalments made on application of plaintiff, ia default of payment 5 days' imprisonment. Same v. Hanite To Awe Awe. — Claim, £2 Us 6d. Order made to pay m two months or three dayaj imprisonment. Mr Baker for defendant. A. E. Shoarsby v. G. J. Symons. — Claim, £4 18s. Claim for wages alleged to be owing by defendant who disputed the claim on two grounds, viz., not getting sufficient notice, and also that plaintiff had received more than credit given for. Plaintiff stated he had been employed by defendant for three months at 25s a week. He had had a difference with plaintiff about 10 days before he left, and gave him a week's notice. He did not leavo when the woek was up but reraainud three days longer. Two days before leaving plaintiff said ho supposed things would go on all the same and he gave him no reply. Subsequently defendant's mother came and abused him for not attending to his work: he then said he had given notice already and would leave at once, which he did. Gr. J. Svmons gave evidence to certain payments' being made from time to time. Judgment for plaintiff for £3 14s and 10s costs, to be paid m one week's time. G. J. Symons v. J. Doreen. Claim £1 0s lOd. Mr A. S. Baker for defendant, who put m a set off, attending horse 10s and supplying firewood, 6 loads at 6b, 365, less 2 cords paid for. ' Plaintiff gave evidence as to defendant having refused to make any charge for attending the horse, as plaintiffs mother had been very kind to defendant's wife and family, by supplying them with clothing and other necessaries, also that defendant had offered to charge 5s a load and not 6s. The Bench gave judgment for 2s 4d and costs. ' A. S. Bak«r v. John Jones. — Claim £4. Judgment for plaintiff and costs. Julius Anderson v. M. and J. Shrumka. Claim £5 10s, loss caused by a sow being killed on plaintiffs property at Bunnythorpe, by defendants. Mr 'A. S. Balcer for plaintiff, Mr G. P. Hawkins for defendants. Plaintiff save evidence to finding the animal on 7th May m the evening and struggling on the ground ; witness got Mr Basset to come and see it and lie Raid she could not live, plaintiff then got the sow killed ; a bullet was found m its forehead ; the value of the sow is £2, and the loss caused by her being taken from her young (7~ suckers) £3 10s. Cross-examined by Mr Hawkins. J. Shrnmka, sworn, said that neither he nor his brother shot the sow ; they were out early m May, pigeon shooting, they had a pigeon dog (laughter) with thorn, they saw a man on the road and naked him if ttiero were any pigs there, he said there was some tame pigs and then we wont home. | Witness was here removed m ordor to secure the assistance of an intvepreter.
