Melbourne, May 12. .A letter has been published from Admiral Tryon to the Colonial Secretary for New South Wales, m which he urged that, the Australasian Colonies should come to a united determination to refuse all concessions or supplys that may be demanded by an enemy, :and should agree that m every case, whether a house, village, or town suffers from an enemy's demands being bravely refused, the loss incurred be made good out of the general revenue of these colonies: Mr Service stated, that he thoroughly agreed with the Admiral's views, and added that the whole matter seemed to demand federal action. The Premier has received a cablegram from the Agent-General, stating that, m regard to the Afghan difficulty, there is still a feeling of doubt as to the permanence of peace. . . Sydney, May 12. The Colonial Secretary has issued instructions that, though 'peace may continue, the moat perfect and complete torpedo plan will be prepared of the various harbors along the coast, those plans to be accompanied by a report upon each. Should war break out at any future time, they will be immediately available, and the necessary torpedoes will be then filled and laid m proper position.
