Native News.
THE PARIHAKA DIFFICULTY. [Wellington Paper. We have it on official authority that Mr Ballance has examined into the.reports concerning Native discontent on the West Coast, and regards them as destitute of truth. He thinks the originators are mostly unworthy of credence, and finds the Natives friendly and cordial, though Tc Whiti'B influence is as great as ever. He says that a low public house is doing much mischief, that a smart policeman will be necessary to keep a few bad characters under surveillance, and that the principal agitator is a notorious character named Hill, who was for some time before the Wellington public m a divorce case, and who has just served a term of imprisonment for stealing pigs belonging to Natives. Mr Ballance is satisfied with the good feeling of the Native people, and sees no reason for a return to a repressive policy.
