Last night's meeting of the above class was devoted to the bearing of an original assay on " Ocean Currents " written and delivered by Mr Mathienon. The attendance at the Hall was not as large as usual and those member* who were absent certainly missed a really good paper. The essayist had evidently thorongnly and siiccessfuliy searched for all tho necessary information to matte the subject of bis essay both interesting and instructive m its main features, geographically and otherwise. Thtfcauses of arid effects produced by these numerous curr^uts of the ocean were clearly explained m a logically descriptive manner. ■ The grammatical composition of tlie paper was also notice* ably gf>od reflecting th« greatest credit on'the compilers. The chairman having summed up, a voto of thanks to the essayist whs "proposed by Mr Reary 4 seconded by Mr Graco and carried unanj\inon6ly. At the close of the meeting it was proposed to hold a social gathering on Monday n*xt the arrangements for which wore left m the hands of thepresident and MeBBrH Grace and Leary.:
