(To the Editor Wairarapa Daily.) Sir,— l never discovered till last evening, why the Salvation Army, band per-' sistently plays ' caterwauling cadences, 1 but on that occasion I observed a poor inebriate endeavouring to pass home from a Bacchanalian shrine. When the discordant strain fell upon his ear it acted like an emetic, and after a brief struggle 1 with his inner man he surrendered, and went home a sadder and o, wiser man. As long as the Band doss good work of this kind I trust the public will support it. — I am, &c. Good Templar,
