Mr Littlejhon is kept quite busy repairing jewellery und other goods. Our local tannery company has turned out some excellent wool mats m both white and dyed colors. Cross, for embezzlement of the funds of the Heads Railway Company, accused who reserved his defence was committed for trial at the sitting of tha Supreme Court, to be held at Wanganui m September next. Bail was accepted, accused m £500, and one surety Mr Harley, m £'500. Messrs Welch and Co. are kept very busy early and late getting their largo Btock into order. They expect to have it open for inspoction during the beginning of next week. They find their premises none too large for the goods now being opened up, which for variety, ex« cellence, and novelty it would be difficult to surpass even m the larger towns. The chief feature m their business will be the exceptionally reasonable prices, their special Home Arrangements enabling them to sell at English co«t. Purchasers m this district who have hilherto had to pay high prices for (stationery goods, <k\\\ be glad to avail themselves of an opportunity of obtaining wtiat they require at much cheaper rates. The new firm will content themselves with reasonable profits and by that means will soon seen re an extensive and lucrative business. ■
