The Hawera church Mission.
(Hawera Correspondent of Patea Mail) At first, severe was the shock to my Anglican friends when th«y attended the siiecial nervices- conducted l>v Rev Copinjror, '"•* MLwfemer. The RevivaVwt, if I may soturtn him, is full of iiuirnnl life and spiritual noction. Full power m. the tingiuft atirirng impromptu prayers and ad- j dresses, such as have warmed the hearts of the people. But uh I said before, there was a shock from the staid matter of fact, sedate, prime way of conducting services. Here we haye aa enthusiast, who, though sound m the doctrine of the old church, thrown aside or rather ignores the fossilised way of going about the business, but walks up and down the aisle encquraging people ■to sing, taking his turn at the organ, with an occasional stirring heart-felt address. Such is Coppingcr the Mission**, an educated Salvationist, or as I have heard it put, just an "electrified or evangelised Anglican." Wdl, for ray part I always likwl tin* enthusiastic ( itt any walk of life. It is the ent.husiast who pushes the world along, who Ktirs up the slugs;ard ; th.- don't care, go'as yon |»lcas»s sort of men. Having got over the. unusual novejly, my Anglican friend* IM-gan to join m heartily with the Hinging and taken lively 'interest m ihe service*. In short xo grf.it was the throng on Sunday niijht that man/ went away regretting that the church was not larg«r; so that they too might have got m.
