The minimum is fixed at Md, and tenders will be opened on the loth inst. The Queensland two and a half million 4 per cent, loan has also been placed m the market, with a minimum of 97, tenders for which will be opened on the 15th inst. Earl Oranville has thanked Mr J. B. Thurston, Colonial Secretary of Fiji, for his services m connection with the recent Commission of Inquiry into the German land claims m that island. j A firm of eminent engineers and con- j tractors have offered to provide the necessary capital for the construction of a large ocean dock at Adelaide, if the local ] Cpmurittee approve. Lord Augustus Loftus, Governor of New South Wales, has written an article m the Pall Mall Gazette, m which he suggests that a Council similar to the | Austrian lieichrath should be formed as i a basis of federation. | Twenty thousand persons of all classes ' have signed the memorial thanking the i Colonies for their generous offers of asI sistance m the Soudan. !
