THURSDAY. (Before R. Ward, Esq., R.M.) CIVIL CASES. G. W. Russell y. G. Eldershaw. Claim £2 ss. Judgment exparte. J. Lmton v. H. Weisner. Claim £9 Is lOd. Loan £1 and interest, 45 months, £2 Is lOd. Mr J. H. Hankins for plaintiff. Plaintiff deposed to squaring up with the defendant on the 16th June, 1881, and on the next day he came and bor- . rowed the £7, to purchase goods with before commencing a contract. Defendant stated that from the day he settled up with Mr Linton up to the present ; he never called on him. The receipt showing a settlement was produced by defendant and was dated 17th. Never got any money from him after that settling up. Never was asked payment by Mr Linton or his clerk at any time. Case adjourned till afternoon for production of a certain cheque on which being 'produced, judgment was given for amount claimed with costs. P. Beaven's Estate v. J. Monteith. Claim i-4 16s lOd. Judgment summons. Mr Hankins for plaintiff. Order made to be paid £1 a month, m default 5 days imprisonment m Wanganui gaol. First payment to be made on Bth June. In the case of Beaven's Estate v. J. Jessop, judgment was given for i'l2 9s 9d against defendant. Several Native debt cases were dealt with m the afternoon.
