(UNITBD PRBSS ASSOCIATION.' Wellington, May 7. The amended Volunteer regulations are gazetted. The following notice is gazetted : — Notice is hereby given that all officers and men of the Boyal Naval service, are to hold themselves m readiness to be called out at a short notice. — George Tyron, Sydney, 30th April, 1885. The following regulation re sale of poisons comes into force on the Ist of July : — Every seller of poison or of any poisonous admixture shall enclose such poison or admixture m bottle of octajjonal shape, and shall, before delivery of same to purchasers, firmly affix to such bottle a label with the word* " poison " m white letters on a red ground appearing thereon. CHiiisTcnußCir, May 7. John Russell, auctioner and pedlar, was to-day committed ibr trial on a charge of obtaining a mortgage of freehold property from a storoman named Reuben Light. It is alleged that the accused induced Light to accept a quantity of very inferior jewellery at a high valuation, and thus induced him to give a mortgage over his house and land. The repairs to the Railcoura's propeller having been effected m the Lyttelton dock, she will leave for Port Cnalmers to-morrow morning.
