(united press association.) Auckland, May 6. Sir George Grey arrived to-night from Kawau, and will probably deliver an address here, but intends first to consult his friends. He will return to Kawau before going to Wellington. The Hon. Mr Stuart, Primier of New South Wales, and Mrs Stuart, are passengers by the Wairarapa for Sydney. Mr Button, of the firm of Whitaker, Russell, and Buddie, proceeded to-day to Wanganui, where he will appear on behalf of Mr Bryce before the Commission appointed to take evidence m connection with the celebrated Bryce-Rus-den case. Dunedin, May 6. The Presbyterian Synod are taking steps to petition Parliament to amend the Education Act, to allow daily reading of the Bible m schools. The Primier, Mr Stout, arrived this evening. A man named John Reid, a brother of a farmer, Alexander Reid, was found hanging to a tree m Raukapuka Bush. He left his brother's house on February 1, and had not since been heard or. His body was found by some boys. "Westport, May 6. A poll was taken to-day on the question of the Borough Council borrowing jfc'Booo for the erection of gasworks. The proposal was approved by the ratepayers by a substantial majority.
