(UNITED PREBS ALBOCIATION.) Invercargill, April 25. The Supreme Court was occupied to-day with the hairing of the case of Moors and Co. v. Equitable Insurance Company. Th« claim was one of £250 on a policy covering sawmills whioh were burnt. The defendants denied that loss to that extent was caused by the lire, and asserted that Perkins, who sued, was not a partner of Moors and Co., and had no insurable interest m Ihe property. They also stated that no detailed account of loss had beeu famished and no proof of loss supplied, and that the property was over- insured. Two other offices had risks on ifc. The plaintitia recovered £214 and costs. The Court will sit for several days yet. Dunedin, April 25. At the inquest held ou Wong Nyp, two Chinese witnesses said that deceased used tosmoke 4s worth of opium per day. besides swallowing four doses oi half a dwfc. A verdict was returned of deatii from excessive opium smok - ing.
