Rates on Native Lands.
In last Gazette it is notified that £12,626 16s Id has bo<m paid by the Colonial Treasurer to local bodies on Native lands for the years 1882-83 and 1883-84. The following amounts were paid, to the undermentioned local bodies; — Road Boards; Alana— watu, £330 15s 8d ; Manchester, £245 15s 3d; Otaki, £30 L 4s 9d; Sandon and Carnarvon, £49 Is Bd. County Councils ;Manawatu, £1123 13s sd ; Rangitikei, £627 3s 7cJ. The half of the above amounts was payable m each year.
