FIJBTHEE DEFENCE OPEEATIONS.
(REUTEB'S TBLEGBAMS.) Sydney, April 17. A Cabinet Council was held to-day at which further ■ measures were agreed upon for placing 1 the defences of the colony m a satisfactory condition. Meblourne, April 17. The Government are m receipt of a telegram from the Agent-General to the effect that the political situation m England is still very menacing.
