■ : :■■ ■ " .♦ ■ ■■"' THE DEFENDANTS APOLOGISE. (ONITBD PRBSB ASSOCIATION.) Wellington, April 14. In the Supreme Court to-day the action of Andrew Young an^ wife. v. Nicholas E^eid and whe was heard. This was a suit for damages arising out of slanderous statements alleged to have been circulated by Mrs'Eeid against Mrs Young. Defendants, have now pleaded that they have inspected documentary evidence of Mr and Mrs Young's marriage, and are convinced that the statement was wholly and absolutely without foundation, and if m the course of conversation either defendant repeated the blander, they- regret any annoyance and trouble it has occasioned plaintiff.
