Concert

. Mr Harbott's benefit concert took place m the Foresters Hall last evening and drew a very good house. The programme was somewhat altered and a few items down not rendered, some of the advertised performers not reaching Palmerston m time. However, the various items were creditably given and heartily appreciated by the audience. Through press of other matter we are deprived from noticing the items m detail, but can not pass over some which were conspicuously well rendered, notably the selections from Mozart's and Far mer's masses, also the charming piano forte execution of Miss Boylan, her rendition of Pridham's *' Seige of Paris" being masterly and effective. Mr Haybittle received a raptvirous encore for his elocutionary rendition ot " The little Hero," a touching narrative of the sea. Messrs Jolly, Richardson, and Mitchell supplied the comic' element and succeeded m evoking considerable mirth amongst the audience. We had almost forgotten the orchestral overture which was played m excellent tune and time the performers having strin«ed, wind and reed instruments. Miss Boylan acting as organist and accompanyist displayed her decidedly musical ability to advantage, her execution and easy stylo of rendition being inueh admired; Mr Harbott conducted with his usual success besides rendering two vocal items. The National Anthem brought a very enj oy abl c conoert to_ a olose.
