I In the House of Commons to-day, Lord Edmund Fitzmaurice, Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs, m replying to a question, stated that the reply ot the Russian Government to Earl Granville's despatch of the 16th insi., was now on it way to London. Th j Government were unaware of the exact nature of its contents. He understood, however, that it indicated tho probability of an early meeting for the settlement of the Afghan frontier delimitation. Lord Fitzmaurice expressed the hope that tho tone of the reply would be such as to allay the excitement now prevailing.
