Public Works Department re application additional grant of .£36 to original grant of £749. : Awahnri Bridge — Extraordinary damage by flood. Reply expressing regret at being unable to'acede to request as not permitted by the Act. Re expenditure deferred payment thirds from capitalized sections. Consideration postponed to next meeting. ; Re permission for expenditure oi on two bridges instead of sevon, which' latter number the poll had been taken for. Reply — not permissible as poll taken for seven ;— suggesting that a fresh application be. made, before 30th June for the • amount required to complete the seven bridges and poll taken for the six. Telegram, 12th March— (from Mr Ballance) stating he would advance £100 for the Kairanga Drain. From. Public Works re request to kuow if a grant under Roads and Bridges Construction Act could be expended on other Road than the one application made for. Reply m the negative. Mr Akers had repeatedly pointed out to the Board tho fact that this could not be done. From Post and Telegraphs, re Karere Bridge. Reply not within their department, entirely under the management of the Board. From treasurer, acknowledging receipt of debentures Road and Bridges Construction Act it> of £90 each and 15 of £157 10s. From Crown Lands, re application to spond £103 m Fitzherbort Block, and £148 10s iv Kairanga, were approved by the Board. Total amount due to the Manawatu Road Board from sales of capitalized sections, £215 17 Cd, leaving deticeinoy £35 12s 6d, and which is to- be made up from thirds to acrue blocks 15 and 16 Fitzherbert, and 9 and 10 Kairanga.. From Property Tax, forwarding list of lands included m substituted Valuation Roll of Native Lands for Manawatu Road District. • " Prom Mr J. H. From Public Works, re application for £4000 for District Roads under Roads and Bridges Construction Act, made . on ; 20 June last, stating the amount had been granted m full. From Public Work 3, re grant of £271 and re Board's suggestion to spend on certain works." Application granted, and that -Mr Stewart certify to the.porfcibti to be found by Board been duly provided. From Public Works, re gravel pit at Terrace End offered by Board lor sale to the Government, asking for particulars. From Mr John Row, Karere, showing list of timber delivering at Karere at 11,000, and stating all ironwork for bridge was oh the ground. The labor of I pile driving, £20, and half labor of bridge raising done. The Public Works Department re grant of £749 for extraordinary damage by floods to Awahuri bridge, stating that three-fourths of* the amount under the Minister's certificate had been issued to Colonel Treasurer, viz., £562. From Public Works, re grant of £1000 for construction of Longburn Road stating amount certified to by Minister to Colonel Treasurer. From same £1750 on Middle Aorangi Road: From the General Survey Office, re memorial from settlers on Kairanga Block re flooded state of drains overflowing Bunnythorpe and Longburn Road, and stating that department .had. proposed to entrust to the Board £\OO if Board find £25 to be expended m improving the drainage referred to. From the Borough Council re account rendered for moiety of cost of removing 1 willows from Kawau stream. The Council decided not to make any reduction m the amount of their original claim.
