BEACH WINS EASILY. (BY KLECTBIO TELEQBAPH. — OOPYhIQHT.) (BEUTE:t'S TBLEOHAII9.) Sydney, March 29. Beach won the boat race by six lengths easily. There was great excitement* The weather was smooth. Later. The sculling match between William Beach and Edward Hanlon for £500 aside and championship of the world took place to-day over the usual course on the Parramatta Biver. The morning was dull with alight rain falling, but towards noon the weather cleared and at starting time was fine. The water was thronged with eager spectators. The steamers were crowded to the utmost capacity, and the greatest interest was manifested by the immense assemblage. Both men were m splendid condition. Halan rowed m his new " Buddick "boat. The men got well away, both being well together, then Beach gradually but surely drew ahead, until ho was a half-boat's length m front of Hanlan. From that out the New South Wales man increased the lead, and at Putney had a length to the good, the Canadian being m difficulties. Beach was still iresh and pulling strongly. Passing Gladerville it was patent to all that the race was virtually over. Beach won as he liked, and came m six lengths ahead of his opponent amidst a per--1 feet storm of shouts and most intense ex« citement. Time 23min 56see.
