New Vessels of War.
The British Admiralty , are goin^ to build during this ' year four ' first-class ironcladn, two torpedo rams of 3,000 tons each, ten scouts, ofj 1,400 or 1,500; i tons, thirty first-class torpedo boats land ! five belted cruisers. These latter — a new | class pf ship—will have armour belts 1 of ten inches of steel, with which their vitals will ,be protected. They will Have ,a displacement of 5,000 .tons, and ;the Weight of their arraoaf will be 1,000 tons. The water-line will be protected }>y aids armour from and to end-. Each will be armed with torpedoes, and some of her guns will be fired from, a prdtecte'd house. .The 'ship Itself V«IJ also be Capable of being dfi'ected as a ram. Eaoh ; Will : Carry two • eighteen-ton guns and twelve, four-ton guns, and her speed will be seventeen knots.
