There was a very sovere gale m Wangimii on Saturday, which causi-tl a good dual of damage. In Palmnrston we had the tail und of this gale dnring Saturday aftcruoon, the wind bein^f singularly warm and humid, [t did not, however, cause any damage that we have heard of, not being exceptionally violent. Mr W. A. Ellis, medical clairvoyant, will be at the Commercial Hotel on the 18th inst, where he can be; consulted. His visit will be for a few days only. The Jane Douglas leaves Wellington this evening at five, and Foxton to-mor-row at ten a.m. At the Wai^gan'ui Police Court, on Saturday, before Mr Ward, 8.M., two small boys, for throwing stones at a sparrow, were fined 2s, without costs. The criminal sittings of the Wanganui Supreme Court will open to-morrow morning at 11 o'clock. Messrs Mitchell and Stutter, since starting m business here as cabinetmakers and upholsters, are very well satisfied with the support they have received. The show-room adjoining Mr J. P. Leary's contain a good stock of house furniture, manufactured by the firm, but through press of special orders for supply of their own workmanship, . it lias been found impossible to make a good display of their stock. We believe, it is intended as soon as practicable to show a variety of goods of their own make m uphoistery and general house furniture..
