Attack On O'Donovan Rossa.
DETAILS OF THE ASSAULT.
■ (Per Mail Steamer). O'Donovan Rossa was shot by a wolndn on Chambers-street, near Broadway, m the afternoon when the street wrts fall of people. The first shot lodged, inso Rossa's body. He. fell on to a sidewdlk. The woman continued shooting till she emptied five 1 chambers of a revolver. She is; an /Englishwoman, named Dfadley, aged 25, nurse, and unmarried* The enquiry, showed, tliat she had Deen erazedUvitb; excitement since the explosion m the Parliament and Tower; On examination of the wound at the hospital, it Was found that the ball ' had penetrated the back,' but ; not dan; gerous. Intelligence of the shooting was received m London amidst iubil'atibn. Thousands of toasts were drunk to tlie iiealth and happiness of Miss IJudiey. In Canada there was great excitement and j intense (disappointment that the wound was not dangerous. Iv the interview Miss Dudley said she saw Eossa, and offered him mercy m order to draw him put. He -told, her that the next buildings to be blown up" Sandhurst College,, Carlton Club, Woolwich Arsenal, and the Bank of England. This showed that she was doing right, ."because it would not have been fair to ■•■ condemn the man upon what she had ,1-pad m his paper.
