In the House of Lords to-day Earl Granville stated that the Government had received information that the Russians m Central Asia have occupied Zulfikara, a pass of the Hindoo :Koosh mountains, aadjhad advanced within a few miles of the passes m Afghanistan. That Sir Peter Lumsden, the, British Commissioner on the frontier question, had advised the Afghans to resist any further advance on the part of the Russians. His Worship added that the Government have urged the Russian Government to order its commanders to halt and make no further encroachment on' the Afghan territory.'
