Wellington Markets.
Messrs Laery and Campbell report business to bo moderately good, but as usual at this time m tho month hardly so brisk as m tho prececding weeks. There is little or no alterations to quote m the bulk, and, as will be noted below, it is onty a special Hue here and there where alterations are of a marked character. Flour may be still quoted at £8 15s to £9, but is dull of sale at that ; wheat is still m full supply, and it is hardly possible to give quotations until the present crop is harvested ; oata continue to be offered m considerable quantities ; for new Is lOd is demanded f.o.b. at shipping port ; hops, are quite unsaleable here ; butter, prime quality, 7d to 8d ; cheese, 5d to s£d ; potatoes come forward freely, and it is with difficulty that shippers are restrained from swamping the market ; they may be quoted this week at 55s to £3 m lines ; best fine skin onions, 10s to 11s ; inferior, 7s to 8h ; but as large quantities are coming forward, these prices, we fear, will liavo to give way ; fowls, 3s 6d to 3s 9d ; ducics, 3s 8d to 4s ; geese, 5s ; turkeys, 8s per pair; eggs have improved somewhat, and may be quoted at Is 4d. At the horse sale on Saturday, there was a large number disposed of, but none were of sufficient merit to call for particular raentiou.
