PUEPS ASSOCIATION.) ArcKr.AND, Feb. 20; The temperance party defeated the licensed victuallers m the Borough of Parnell by a large majority, carrying, all their candidates. ; TiMAtfu, Feb. 20. At the annual meeting of the' Gas •Company, to-night,- a dividend 'at the rate of 15 per cent, was declared. Inybecargill, Feb. 20. ' " Harvest will be general m a few days. High yields are anticipated. The funerals of Messrs Eowlands and <Dunn, drowned on Saturday, took place to-day, and were the most numerously attended for years past. Mr Rowlands having been a prominent Freemason and Oddfellow, all the lodges were present m force, and the Garrison Band headed the cortege. Mr Eowlands had m his pocket when drowned a copy of a Masonic funeral service, which he procured from Dunedin, as secretary of the lodge, so as to be prepared m the event of death of a member of the order. This was printed, and used to-day for his own burial service. The search for the girl Dunn has been unsuccessful. A portion of the underclothing found near the bodies of the' men, has been identified as hers by Mrs Dunn. It was much torn. , ■•/;■ The temperance party succeeded .m returning a majority m the north and south districts of the borough.
