Henry Power, the once notorious bushranger, was a "celebrate 3 'cliaracter m Victoria. ]>rior to his arrest and sentence to the long-term of imprisonment which he has now just completed. The following is a record of his performances, taken from the Australian Dictionary of Dates: — Henry Power stuck up the mail ; coach near Porejsukka, the Ovens district, 7th May, 1869 ; stuck up the Buckland mail coach within five miles of Beeohworth. The Government ot Victoria '• offered i'soo for his arrest,' 28th August, I860, ; captured by Superintendents Nicholson, Hare, and Sergeant Montford, whilst asleep m a hut on the Glenmore Ranges, at the Head of the King Biver, Victoria ; there was a revolver by his side, and a gun close to his head, (he supposed that he was betrayed -by Edward Kelly, ; whp ; turned out bushrajiger, m that locality), sth June, 1870. Found guilty at the, Beechworth Assizes on three charges of robbery, and sentenced to five years' imprisonment on each charge, sentences %o be cumulative. He showed bravado m Court, and on being sentenced requested
