GREAT. ENTHUSIASM AMONGST VOLUNTEERS.

OPERATIONS IN THE SOUDAN TO BE SUSPENDED.

Sydney, Feb. 13. In reply to the New South Wale* Government the Imperial authorities stale that their offer of troops is fully appreciated, but that operations m the Soudan will likely be deferred owiug to the lateness of the sesison. The offer is, however, under consideration. Several liberal otfers of monej r have been nmde towards the expenses of the proposed New South Wales contingent to the Soudan expedition. Great enthusiasm is heing shown by the local Volunteers at the prospect of active service.
