A good deal of interest is being worked up by the temperance aud moderate parties over licensing elections, ami both parties will put candidates m the field. Auckland, Feb. 10. Mr Booth closed his city temperance mission last night. There was a crowded meeting, and 3619 new pledges were taken. He leaves for the Lake country. The Hon. Mr Baliance visited the sugar-works and other leading industries to-day, tie leaves m the Hine-. moa for the Thames to morrow. Greyaiouth, Fe >. 10. The Premier and Minister of Mines were entertained at a banquet at the Public Hall la>t night the Mayor presiding. About 150 were present, in* eluding all the notable people of the place representing commercial and professional interests. The representatives m Parliament of the district, and Mr Menteath, of Reefton, were also present. The address of the Premier was comparatively brief and nonpolitical m tone. To night he delivers a lentuie on " Colonisation, past and present, and what should bo our aim as colonists." Chkistchurch, Feb. 10. The Canterbury Saleyards Company has declared a, dividend equal toll per cent for the nast year.
